Velenice (Nymburk District)

Velenice ( German Wellenitz, also Welenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers northeast of Poděbrady and belongs to fulltext your real estates.

Geography

Velenice is located on the stream Velenický creek on the East Bohemian panel. in the southeast rises the hill Herhulec ( Herhuletz, 234 m). To the west of the municipality of State Road 32 runs between Poděbrady and Jičín.

Neighboring towns are Činěves in the north, Poušť in the northeast, and Vinice Městec Králové in the east, Podmoky in the south, Ostrov and Úmyslovice in the southwest and Netřebice in the West.

History

Velenice was first documented in 1305, when Wenceslas II the village and part of Podmoky the Benedictine convent of St. George left at Prague Castle as a substitute for other goods offset from him. Under Emperor Sigismund, the village came back to power in 1437 Podiebrad. The Vogtshof in Velenice was raised in 1530 to Lehnhof. The inhabitants of the village were Protestants, and even after the Thirty Years War Velenice remained predominantly Protestant. 1770 houses were numbered. After Josephine tolerance patent in 1785 began the construction of an evangelical prayer house in Novohrady. In 1782 lived in the village only 80 Catholics. In 1826 the town had 698 inhabitants, of whom 257 lived in Velenice and 441 in Novohrady. 1829 examined the evangelical community at Christian Friedrich Spittler support for the construction of a church.

After the abolition of patrimonial Velenice formed in 1850 with the district Novohrady a municipality in the district Poděbrady. 1921 was the community of 128 residential buildings. 49 of which belonged to Velenice and 73 to Novohrady. Velenice at the time had 246 inhabitants and in Novohrady lived 374 people. 1924, the Home Office decided the merger of settlements Velenice and Novohradský into one unit.
