Veľký Kriváň

The Velky Krivan from east

The Velky Krivan is the highest mountain in the Mala Fatra in Slovakia.

Location

The mountain lies on the southern edge of the Vrátna Valley in the central part of the main ridge of the Krivánska Fatra. He is named for this part of the mountains.

Character

The Velky Krivan consists of granite. He rises relatively inconspicuous in the main ridge. At the steepest is the southwestern flank; Here you will find rocky sections. The remaining slopes are covered with grass or mountain pines. From the summit, a free panoramic view in all directions is possible.

Rise

On the northern slope of the mountain passes a red marked trail at the summit. From this way, a short, separately marked trail to the highest point. The easiest is the ascent from the saddle Snilovské saddleback and the mountain station of the leading from the Vrátna Valley cable car.
