Vendryně ( Vendryně German, Polish Wędrynia ) is a municipality in the inhabited by a Polish minority, Cieszyn Silesia region in the far east of the Czech Republic.

Geography

Vendryně located about 5 km south east of Třinec on ​​the edge of the Silesian Beskids. The highest elevations are the north Jahodná (407 m), the Babí hora ( 492 m) to the east in the mountains Wendriner Vavrkova hora (530 m) and Ostry (709 m) and the southeast Prasiva hora (541 m). To the south near Zaolší reach the summit in Borekwald heights up to 880 m

Through the town on the left Olsaufer the Vendrynka ( Wendriner Bach), which opens just above the old ferry in the Olsa flows.

The village has a municipal area of 20.095 km2 and is divided into four areas:

  • Zaolší

From 1869 to 2001:

According to the census in 2001 in 894 of 963 houses lived 3842 people, of which were:

  • 2,309 ( 60.1 %) Czechs
  • 1,353 ( 35.2%) Poland
  • 60 (1.6%) Slovaks
  • 31 (0.8%) Silesians
  • 13 (0.3%) Moravians
  • 4 ( 0.1%), German
  • 3 ( 0.1%), Ukrainians.

73.8 % of the population ( 2,835 people) belong to a religious community, the Roman Catholic denomination with 44.6 % ( 1,266 people) accounts for the largest share.

History

Vendryně was first mentioned in 1305 in the Tithe Directory of the Diocese of Breslau and belonged to the Duchy of Cieszyn.

1592 was a guesthouse in Vendryně with brewing rights.

Mid-19th century there were in the village, which belonged to the district Jablunkau in the Austrian Duchy of Silesia, a post office, a castle, and 2,000 inhabitants.

In 1980 the village was a suburb of Třinec. Since 1 January 1995 Vendryně is a separate municipality again.

Traffic

There is a stop for regional trains to Mosty u Jablunkova, Jablunkau, Cadca, Bohumin and Teschen on the railway line.
