Ventry

Ventry ( Ceann Trá Irish ) is a small village with 413 inhabitants ( as of 2006) six kilometers west of Dingle on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry in Ireland. It is located on the wide bay of Ventry Harbour and is famous for its sandy beach located in the south-west. The place has far outside even a pier, but is no longer a port.

For the Irish the place has mainly mythological significance. Here the battle of Ventry was held, Fionn mac Cumhaill where and Donn, who faced " king of the world ".

In the near Ventry some menhirs are ( tomb the Wedge, The Giants Table and Caherard, Labbanirweeny or the Munsterman 's Bed ), the Clochans of Fahan, the ruins of the Rahinnane Castle and one of the most famous Duns Ireland on the cliff, Dunbeg Fort ( the Dun small ). In the near Kilvicadownig there are two cross- slabs and the grave of Donn, the King of the World.
