Vera Farmiga

Vera Farmiga Ann ( born August 6, 1973 in Passaic County, New Jersey) is an American actress and director.

Life and achievements

Farmiga comes from a family of immigrants from Ukraine. As she grew up with her six siblings in a Ukrainian community, she learned the English language until the age of six years. In her youth, she performed with a Ukrainian folk group. First, she attended a Ukrainian Catholic school, then studied at the School of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University.

Farmiga made ​​her debut in 1996 in Broadway plays. In the film drama for a friend's life (1998) she played opposite Vince Vaughn, Anne Heche and Joaquin Phoenix. In the film drama Autumn in New York (2000), she played the role of Lisa Tyler, daughter of Will Keane, the Richard Gere played. In the action film 15 Minutes of Fame (2001) she appeared alongside Robert De Niro and Edward Burns. In the film she played dummy in 2002, an unemployment consultant who supervised the underdog Steven. The film was mostly shown only at film festivals and released on DVD.

In 2011 she made ​​her directorial debut with the film Higher Ground, in which they themselves also took over the lead role Corinne. As in the film, the youth of her character are shown, Farmiga was looking for a young actress who looks like her. For this role she won her younger sister Taissa, who made ​​her acting debut in this film.

In January 2012, she was alongside Patrick Wilson for James Wan's horror thriller film Conjuring - The Visitation cast. Since 2013, it takes over the lead role of Norma Louise Bates in based on the novel Psycho TV series Bates Motel.

Vera Farmiga was married from 1997 to 2005 with actor Sebastian Roché. On 4 November 2010 Vera Farmiga gave birth to a daughter. She is the second child with her husband Renn Hawkey.
