Vera Tschechowa

Vera Tschechowa (actually Vera Rust, born July 22, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German actress, director and producer Russian- German origin.

Biography

Vera Tschechowa is the daughter of actress Ada Tschechowa and physician Dr. Wilhelm Rust. Her grandmother was the actress Olga Chekhova, her great-great Russian writer Anton Chekhov.

Vera Tschechowa grew up in Berlin. After school, she briefly attended the Art Academy in order to become a set designer, but decided for the acting profession and took lessons with Anne -Marie Hanschke and Ernst Fritz Fürbringer in Munich and at Marlise Ludwig in Berlin.

In 1957 she debuted in the Heinz Erhardt film widower with five daughters. Up to the nineties, followed by around a further 50 roles in film and television. In 1962 she received for her role as Ulla Wickweber in the film The Bread of Those Early Years of the German Film Award for Best Actress in 1977 for her role in the ZDF production Age of Sensibility the Golden Camera.

In 1959 Vera Tschechowa played at the Freie Volksbühne theater in Berlin. More Stage stations were among others the German Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus and the Theater Basel. When Elvis Presley was stationed in Germany in 1959, they saw the young actress a few times with the singer.

Her mother Ada came in 1966 in a plane crash in Bremen killed. 1967 married Vera Tschechowa their colleagues Vadim Glowna. The marriage ended in divorce after more than twenty years. In 1971 she participated in the Alice Schwarzer initiated media campaign " We had abortions ".

In 1980 she founded together with Vadim Glowna the Atossa film production. The company produced, among others, Desperado City, in which Vadim Glowna directed and the 1981 Caméra d'Or won as Best Debut Film at the Cannes Film Festival, and in 1984 Chekhov in my life, a documentary about the artist dynasty of Chekhov.

From the early 1990s, Vera Tschechowa worked primarily as a director of documentaries. They are created for different TV channels portraits of Eduard Shevardnadze, Václav Havel, Hans -Dietrich Genscher, Klaus -Maria Brandauer, Katja Riemann, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Anthony Quinn, Michael Ballhaus, the Taiwanese director Ang Lee and the Makhmalbaf, a family Iranian filmmakers.

Today Vera Tschechowa is married to the manager and producer Peter Paschek. Her son, the film composer Nicholas Glowna comes from a relationship with Hartmut Reck and was adopted by Vadim Glowna.
