Veranda

A porch is a semi-open, thoughtful, often resting on wooden pole attachment to land or homes or a covered terrace that protects the sides of the house from direct sunlight and where you can stay in the rain in the open air.

Porches are found primarily in warmer areas, particularly in Australia and the southern United States. In temperate regions, they can be approximated with wind protection walls and light panels a conservatory.

Etymology

The word veranda or verandah came into English from Bengali or Hindi Baranda VARANDA. Since the word was however ( here in 1498 at the latest) and Spanish texts used very early in Portuguese quite naturally, the word may have been brought by this to India.
