VDA recommendations (standards ) for EDI

Today, virtually everyone is a German automobile manufacturer and thus all medium and large suppliers EDI, with the requirements of almost all automobile manufacturers break through the original basic norms of the VDA. In the wake of globalization, the German companies make more and more to EDIFACT. The VDA is, however, also trying to standardize, to be used only after certain types of EDIFACT messages. Exploiting the entire possibilities of the EDIFACT messages would again lead to a drifting apart and counteract the standardization of data exchange. Since 2011, there are activities to develop a series of new VDA subsets based Global EDIFACT message formats for the area of logistics. The aim is to achieve a high degree of standardization for EDIFACT formats modeled after the VDA 4938.
