Verbum supernum prodiens

Verbum Supernum Prodiens is a hymn by Thomas Aquinas in 1264, wrote for the Morning Prayer, Lauds at the feast of Corpus Christi.

The Protestant theologian Otto Riethmueller 1932 created a transmission that even today in the Protestant hymnal in the " Songs for Worship - Lord's Supper " takes (EC 223).

The last two verses O salutaris hostia have often been used by itself as a singing Eucharistic blessing or communion, Panis Angelicus similar, and were often set to music. Among the best-known musical settings by Gioachino Rossini, Camille Saint- Saëns, and Charles Gounod.
