Verner Lička Werner Lička ( born September 15, 1954 in Hlučín ) is a former Czech football player and current coach.

Playing career

Verner Lička played in his youth for Sokol Hlučín. In 1973, the striker to Ostroj Opava, but went only a short time later to Dukla Tachov to there to do his military service. In 1975 he returned to Opava, but soon moved to Banik Ostrava, where he spent most of his career and three times the Czechoslovak Championship and once won the national cup. After 255 games and 103 goals Lička moved in 1986 to the French club FC Grenoble. After only one season, he moved on to Belgian club Berchem Sport Antwerp. In 1989 he played briefly for Germinal Ekeren, followed by two years for Calais RUFC. After the 1991/92 season at Olympique Grande -Synthe Lička ended his active career.

National

For the Czechoslovakian national soccer team Lička graduated nine games in which he scored a goal. He belonged to both the squad for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow in which the Czechoslovak team won gold, as well as for the 1980 European, in which the Czechoslovaks was third.

Coaching career

His coaching career began as an assistant at Banik Ostrava Lička in the season 1992 /93. 1993/94 and 1994/95 he was sitting at BANIK as head coach on the bench. 1995/96, he coached FC Zlín. 1996/97 he was Sports Director at Banik Ostrava, 1997-2000 again with chief responsibility for trainers. From 1993 to 1998 Lička was also the assistant coach for the Czech national team.

He then coached the team from the Qatar Sports Club. In May 2001 he took over for a few games back as coach at Banik Ostrava, before he went to Polonia Warsaw. Mid-2002 took over Lička the Czech Under-21 team, which he supervised until December 2004. In April 2004 he signed for Gornik Zabrze, in December 2004 he moved to the bank of Wisla Krakow. For the season 2006/ 07 he took over Dyskobolia Grodzisk.
