Vernon Dixon

Vernon Dixon (born 20 century, † 2009) was a British art director and production designer, who three times won the Academy Award for Best Production Design.

Life

Dixon began his career as an art director and production designer in 1946 in the film Warning: Green ( Green for Danger ) and worked until 1981 at the scenic features of almost sixty films.

At the Academy Awards in 1969 he won with John Box, Terence Marsh and Ken Muggleston his first of three Academy Award for Best Production Design for Oliver (1968 ), a and based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens by Carol Reed with Mark Lester, Jack Wild Ron Moody filmed musical.

In 1972 he won with Box, Ernest Archer, Jack and Gil Parrondo Maxsted another Oscar for Best Production Design, and indeed for the staged by Franklin J. Schaffner historical film Nicholas and Alexandra (1971 ) about Czar Nicholas II of Russia and his wife Alexandra Michael Jayston, Janet Suzman and Roderic Noble in the lead roles.

His third and final Academy Award for Best Production Design, he won at the Academy Awards in 1976 with Ken Adam and Roy Walker with the based on the novel The Memoirs of Junkers Barry Lyndon (1844 ) by William Makepeace Thackeray resultant film, Barry Lyndon (1975 ) Stanley Kubrick Ryan O'Neal, Marisa Berenson and Patrick Magee.
