vero cell

In Vero cells are an established cell line derived from normal kidney cells of African green monkeys (African Green Monkey, Chlorocebus see ) was obtained.

They have a fibroblast-like morphology and typically in DMEM ( Dulbecco 's Modified Eagle Medium ) 2mM Glutamine 10 % fetal calf serum are cultivated.

Vero cells are susceptible to infection with a variety of viruses such as influenza virus, polio virus, rubella virus, alphaviruses and reoviruses.

Examples

As examples here following Subzelllinien or mutants may be mentioned:

  • Vero 317: From 303 Vero -derived cells. They grow in glutamine-free medium without FCS. Their morphology is rather similar to epithelial cells.
  • Vero C1008: Showing slight contact inhibition and are useful to multiply slowly replicating viruses. epithelzellenähnlich
  • Vero / hSLAM: Possess a surface receptor ( hSLAM or CDw150 ) is required for the absorption of measles virus into the cell. fibroblast-like morphology
