Veronica Linklater, Baroness Linklater

Veronica Linklater, Baroness Linklater of butter Stone ( born April 15, 1943) is an MEP for the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords. Her career shows their interest in the welfare of children, education, special needs, and prison reform. As Baroness Linklater of Butterstone it was 1997 Life Peer of Riemore in Perth and Kinross.

Linklater is the daughter of Lieutenant - Colonel Archibald Michael Lyle and Hon Elizabeth Sinclair, the younger daughter of the former chairman of the Liberal Party Archibald Sinclair, 1st Viscount Thurso. She was educated at the Cranbourne Chase School and at the Universities of Sussex and London. In 1967 she married the journalist Magnus Linklater. They have two sons and a daughter.

In 1967, she was the Child Care Officer in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and 1970-1985 was governor of three schools in Islington. From 1971 to 1977 she was co-founder of the visitor center at Pentonville Prison, and their continued interest in this area led to her involvement in the Winchester Prison Project, Prison Reform Trust from 1981 to 1982. You is a trustee of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
