Veronika Skvortsova

Weronika Igorevna Skworzowa (Russian Вероника Игоревна Скворцова; born 1 November 1960 in Moscow) is a Russian doctor and politician. Since May 21, 2012, she is Minister for Health and Social Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Skworzowa studied medicine at the Russian State Medical University in Moscow, where she also completed his habilitation in 1988. Since 1997 she has been a professor of neurology and neurosurgery. In 1999 she was co-founder of the Russian Federation against the stroke ( Национальной ассоциации по борьбе с инсультом ), she is also a member of the Executive Board of the World Stroke Organization.

In July 2008 Skworzowa was appointed Deputy Minister for Health and Social Affairs since 21 May 2012, she is Minister of Health in the Government of the Russian Federation.

In July 2012, statements by Skworzowa were reproduced on the subject of homosexuality in the German media. After that, they have said that homosexuality was " in part a disease." Although homosexual persons should not be discriminated against, but "the younger generation should be protected from the pathological representatives of homosexualism ".
