The VERPOORTEN GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of eggnog.

History

Eugen Verpoorten founded the company in 1876 in Heinberg. A native of Antwerp distiller opened on the Heinsberger high street, next to the noble ladies of the " Liqeur Factory & colonial produce of H. Verpoorten " where he invented the eggnog. The closely guarded recipe of egg liqueur has not changed since the company was founded.

His son Hubert Verpoorten ran the business successfully, and finally in the third generation born in 1890 led William Verpoorten operation. He moved to Berlin in 1920 to operate, because he saw no promising prospects for a new start in French-occupied Rhineland after his return from the First World War. The building was destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War.

After the production after the Second World War was initially taken up again in an existing branch operation in Straubing, was started in 1952 with the construction of today's headquarters in Bonn. Viktor Verpoorten now ran the business and continued in the 1960s, first massively on advertising, when he in 1961 the slogan "Ah, ah, ah - Verpoorten " from the hit " Ay ay ay Maria - Maria from Bahia " created. Previously was the advertising slogan: " Refreshed the palate, refreshes and invigorates, right glad and cheerful, at home and everywhere: Verpoorten ".

Verpoorten is for five generations in the family. Since 2003, William Verpoorten is Managing Director.

Company figures

Verpoorten employs approximately 100 people and every day can be filled up to 130,000 bottles and exported to 30 countries. The conversion is according to the company stable at around 50 million euros.
