Vertebral subluxation

Subluxation refers to a partial dislocation of a joint, the joint head still partially located in the socket. Typical cases include:

  • Luxationshüfte
  • Radial head subluxation ( subluxation of the condyle in the spokes toddler )
  • Atlanto - axial subluxation ( subluxation of the second head joint )

Subluxation in chiropractic

In chiropractic we find the term in a slightly different meaning. A subluxation here is a condition of a vertebra which has lost its real position in relation to the lying above or below it, or both beset ( to a lesser extent than a dislocation), the nerves and the transmission of mental impulses interfere.

The slippage from the natural position arises from the perspective of chiropractic by the interaction of the body with its environment. These include both trauma (eg, accidents and force effects ) and already occurring at birth subluxations, especially in the cervical spine ( cervical spine ). The trigger in modern life and physical and mental stress, such as lack of exercise, poor posture when sitting for hours in front of computer monitors or psychological stress are considered.

The American Chiropractic assumes that segmental dysfunction in the nervous system may also have implications for the institutions, which are supplied by these nerves. In addition occur almost regularly local complaints such as Back pain or movement restrictions.
