Vertical launching system#Hot launch and cold launch

The launch of a rocket without a running engine is called a cold start. The rocket is usually ejected by compressed air from the launcher and ignites a delay before your engine. This method is primarily for use in the military field. Typical applications include the launch of missiles and cruise missiles from submarines, intercontinental ballistic missiles from missile silos and shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft missiles.
