Verviers is a city in the east of Belgium and is located in the valley of the Weser (French: Vesdre) in the northern foothills of the Ardennes. It belongs to the province of Liège in Wallonia. The German border is not far away, Aachen is 30 km. Verviers is the capital of the district, which includes 29 municipalities.

History

Verviers was until well into the 20th century known worldwide as a center of the wool trade and the textile industry.
