Veszprém County (former)

County Wesprim ( German also Wesprimer County; Hungarian Veszprém Vármegye, Latin comitatus Vesprimiensis ) was a historic administrative unit ( county / county) in the Kingdom of Hungary.

The area is located in what is now west-central Hungary on the face of today's Veszprém County, however, was a bit smaller this.

Location

The county bordered on the counties Vas ( Vas ), Sopron ( Sopron ), Raab (Győr ), Komárom ( Komárom ), White Castle ( Fejér ), Tolna, Somogy and Zala. It extended around over the Bakony and the northeastern end of Lake Balaton.

History

The county was created in the 11th century and was in this form to large Komitatsreform 1950. Merely the city Siófok 1850 was extracted from the Somogy County and joined the Veszprém County. In 1950, the city went back to the Somogy county, and the region south-east of Lake Balaton (around Enying ) went to the Fejér county. But the area was west of Papa, which had previously part of the Vas county, as well as the northern shore of Lake Balaton on the county. See further, see Veszprém county.
