Veteli

Veteli [ vɛtɛli ] (Swedish: Vetil ) is a municipality in western Finland with 3378 inhabitants ( as at 31 December 2012). It is situated in the countryside Central Ostrobothnia, 54 kilometers southeast of Kokkola. Neighboring communities of Veteli are Kaustinen in the north, Halsua in the east, in the southeast Perho, Vimpeli in the south, Lappajärvi in the southwest and Evijärvi and Kronoby in the West. The community is monolingual Finnish speakers.

The municipal area includes the villages of Veteli Aho, Alaspää, Haapala, Haapasalo, Heikkilä, Haukilahti, Isokylä, Kalliojärvi, Nykänen, Patana, Polso, Pulkkinen, Rytiniemi, Räyrinki, Sillanpää, Siponkoski, Torppa, Tunkkari and Yliveteli. The landscape on the current flowing through Veteli Perhonjoki River has been officially recognized as a culturally and historically valuable ensemble. Another attraction of the village is 1839 finished wooden church. In addition Veteli is known for track Kemora Circuit, held at the National since 1983 Motorsportverannstaltungen.

Were born in Veteli including the long-distance runner Paavo Kotila (1927-2014), the cross-country skiers Hannu Taipale ( born 1940 ) and Kalle Lassila (* 1985) and the Center Party, Esko Aho ( b. 1954 ) and Juha Sipilä (* 1961). Died in Veteli Pehr Henrik Nordgren is the composer ( 1944-2008 ).
