Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin ( IPA: [ VÖV kli.kɔ pɔsaʁdɛ ] ) is the name of one of the most famous champagne brands.

The cellar of the company is located in Reims in the French province of Champagne and is part of the LVMH group.

History

1772 Philippe Clicquot founded a wine trading under the brand name Clicquot. Francois Clicquot died in 1805, the son of the company founder.

His 27- year-old widow (French: Veuve ) Barbe- Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin - ( 1777 to 1866 ) then took over the business of her late husband. While Europe has difficulties recovering from the Napoleonic wars, it succeeded, thanks to the active support of their mostly coming from Germany employees to export their champagne in the world. She presented their products at all rule courts of Europe, thereby contributing to broadcast the French savoir -vivre. After a short time her wine was not only a successful product, but a real myth. Barbe- Nicole Clicquot was a passionate entrepreneur. In 2012, a special edition of Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label was released in the form of a sardine can. When the father of Nicole Ponsardin was appointed Baron of the first Napoleonic Empire in 1813, he received as an award a coat of arms, whose contents he could decide for themselves. He opted for the representation of a bridge (French Pont), below which a sardine was mapped. The resulting pun Pon (t ) Sardinian (s) gave his name so that a satirical meaning.
