VH1: Storytellers (Meat Loaf)

VH1 Storytellers is a live CD and live DVD of Meat Loaf, which was published in 1999. Meat Loaf told some humorous stories from his career and answered questions from the audience. The DVD contains two additional tracks, however, are some of the songs on the CD not on the DVD. To promote the CD, followed by a tour, which lasted from 31 October 1999 until January 9, 2000.

Concept background

Storytellers is a music series of the U.S. TV channel VH1. In each episode an artist playing in front of ( mostly small and intimate ) live audience and tells stories about his music, writing experiences and Erinneringen. It has a little resemblance to MTV Unplugged. The series started in 1996 with a transfer of Ray Davies during his Storyteller tour and took the name of his first concert. About 60 episodes were broadcast, and many of the performances appeared then as a CD or DVD.

The concert

The concert was broadcast on 5 October 1999 in front of a small live audience and later released on CD and DVD. Due to the length of many Meat Loaf songs, the organizers presented by VH1 how songs like Paradise by the Dashboard Light to fit between two advertising blocks that are broadcast every 8 minutes. Meat Loaf said: " When we come to the place with the advertising, I stop the song and say, ' the rest comes after the commercial break .'" During the concert, Meat Loaf stated based panel and pointer the meaning of the word 'that ' from the song I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Will not Do That ).
