Via Latina

The Via Latina ( Latin German Street ) is one of the oldest Roman roads, but was not a new installation, but only the extension of an existing older road.

As a Roman road it dates from the 5th or 4th century BC. She left the city of Rome through the Porta Latina and led about 147 Roman miles (218 km ) to the southeast across the territory of the Latins on the cities of Anagni, and Ferentinum Frosinone to Capua. There was a port on the Via Appia. The Appian Way was 312 BC applied parallel to the Via Latina as a faster connection. Along the Via Latina are some Roman ruins, including the restored Temple of the Valerii and the splendor of the temple of the Barberini.

The Via Latina today as Casilina (SS 6) part of the Italian long-distance network.
