Via Verde

Via Verde is an electronic toll payment system, which is used for the Portuguese motorways since 1991. Since 1995, the system is used nationwide for all of the toll highways and bridges.

When driving the reserved exclusively for Via Verde clients lane at toll stations attached to a windshield RFID chip is read.
