Vibersviller
Vibersviller ( German Wiebersweiler, Lorraine Wiberschwiller ) is a commune with 461 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins, to Canton Albestroff and the Communauté de communes du Kommunalverband Saulnois.
Geography
Vibersviller located in Saulnois seven kilometers east of Albestroff on the border of Alsace at an altitude 216-266 meters above sea level. The municipality covers 13.02 km ² ( 1,302 acres ). The municipality also includes the north hamlet of Sainte -Elisabeth.
History
Vibersviller situated on the old Roman road from Strasbourg ( Argentorate ) to Metz ( Divodurum ). In the 13th century the village belonged to the Seigneurie Fénétrange gooseneck. 1565 Vibersviller was reformed. In the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) the town was destroyed.
1793 Vibersviller received in the course of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ) the status of a municipality and in 1801 the right to local self-government.
Due to boundary changes during the Franco-German War (1870-1871), who had been definitively confirmed in the Treaty of Frankfurt, Vibersviller 1871 German. 1919, the congregation joined by renewed territorial changes in the wake of the First World War ( 1914-1918) returned to France.
