Vicat

Vicat is a cement and building materials producer based in Paris and is the third largest cement manufacturer in France. The group is out in France in another 10 countries worked (USA, Turkey, Senegal, Switzerland, Egypt, Italy, Mali, India, Kazakhstan and Mauritania).

The company claims a capital of 2082 million euros and profit of 234 million euros for 2009. The French public company is listed on NYSE Euro Next to the symbol VCT, but is still largely owned by the family Merceron - Vicat.

History

The company was founded in 1853 by Joseph Vicat ( 1821-1902 ), the son of Louis -Joseph Vicat, the discoverer of the artificial hydraulic lime. He built the first cement plant in Vif, a village south of Grenoble, Isère. 1921, the company was registered as a public company in 1922 built a cement factory in the Montalieu not far away. 1968 HeidelbergCement acquired a stake, which was increased to 35% and held until June 2007, when HeidelbergCement needed the proceeds for the acquisition of the British building materials company Hanson plc. Between 1974 and 2008, Vicat expanded its activities abroad. In 2010, the cement factory were operated in Montaulieu and in four other places in France. In Saint- Égrève north of Grenoble, the company's goods lift of Vicat cement factory installed to transport crushed material from a quarry to the factory on the other side of the Isère.

Products
