Victor Charles Hanot

Victor Charles Hanot (* 1844, † October 28, 1896 ) was a French internist, who had specialized in hepatology. He received his doctorate in 1875 and worked at the Hôpital Saint -Antoine in Paris.

His specialty was the Hepatology, so the study of liver diseases, such as cirrhosis and hemochromatosis. He is regarded as the first to the primary biliary cirrhosis. His most famous book is called cirrhosis Hypertrophique avec ictère chronique.

The name Hanot appeared in several historical medical Deonymen on:

  • Hanot - MacMahon - Thannhauser syndrome: Not more common name for a special type of primary Biliary cirrhosis (so-called xanthomatous biliary cirrhosis).
  • Hanot - Kiener syndrome: Today, the chronic persistent hepatitis accordingly.
  • Hanot -Rössle- Syndrome: Today Secondary biliary cirrhosis
  • Hanot cirrhosis: Today, primary biliary cirrhosis
