Victor de Broglie (1846–1906)
Louis -Alphonse- Victor de Broglie, 5th Duke de Broglie ( born October 30, 1846 in Rome, † August 26 1906 in Broglie, Eure, Normandy ) was a French aristocrat from the family of the Dukes de Broglie.
Victor de Broglie was the eldest son of the future French Prime Minister Albert de Broglie, 4th Duke de Broglie ( 1821-1901 ) and Pauline de Galard de Brassac de Béarn ( 1825-1860 ). He was born in Rome, where his father held a diplomatic position.
The son of a monarchist politician, he also embarked on a diplomatic career and was Secretary and Member of Parliament.
On September 26, 1871, he married in Paris Pauline de La Forest d' Armaillé ( 1851-1928 ). With her he had five children, four of whom reached adulthood:
- Maurice, 6th Duke de Broglie ( 1875-1960 ), who was a famous physicist
- Louis, 7th Duke de Broglie ( 1892-1987 ), who also became a famous physicist and 1929 received the Nobel Prize
- Albertine ( born December 4, 1872 in Paris, † May 24, 1946 in Paris)
- Philippe ( born December 6, 1881 in Paris, † May 18, 1890 in Paris)
- Pauline ( born February 5, 1888 in Paris, † February 29, 1972 in Paris).
