Victor Hedman
Victor Erik Olof Hedman ( born December 18, 1990 in Örnsköldsvik ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defender, who plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League since 2009.

Career
Victor Hedman began his career in 2005 in the U18 youth team of MODO Hockey. Having already scored three goals and three assists in eight games, he was appointed at the age of just 14 years to the U20 Juniors, where he played a further ten games. In the following season 2006/ 07 he played at the beginning again for the U18 team, but established himself in the course of the season as a regular player in the higher age group. With 25 points in 34 games, he was one of the best scorer among the defenders and led all players with 13 goals to his position.
In the 2007 /08 season he played only a few games at the junior and was the 16 -year-old made his debut in the first team MoDo Hockey in the Elitserien. Hedman spent almost the entire season in the seniors sat through as a regular player and played 39 games.
In a survey of Canadian sports channel TSN under ten Scouts of the North American Hockey League National Hockey League Hedman was elected promising talent for the NHL Entry Draft in 2009. In the course of the season he was in other rankings, however, behind the Canadian John Tavares. About four weeks before the NHL Entry Draft, the Continental Hockey League, founded in the summer of 2008 held its first Junior Draft from at all. Again, Hedman was next to Tavares in the rankings at the highest -assessed talent. However, the Swede was because the prospects seemed quite low on a commitment to the KHL selected until the fourth and final round of 83 place from HK Spartak Moscow. A few weeks later he was elected the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL Entry Draft in second place overall behind Tavares from. In July 2009, Hedman signed a standard rookie contract with the franchise from Florida with a term of three years.
During the 2008/ 09 season he became a mainstay in the team of MODO and played mainly in the first defense formation. Although his team missed the playoffs, he had the second-best plus / minus statistics of the league and boosted its points total with seven goals and 14 assists significantly.
Victor Hedman is considered as a talented defender who has good technical skills and on the offensive by an accurate passing game and a precise shot can set accents. In addition, he has by his stature of 1.98 meters above advantages in the physical game. But according to his own statements, he still needs to work on his defensive game and bring more consistent performance.
Internationally
Victor Hedman played for the Swedish national team for the first time at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2007. Sweden won after a 8-3 victory over Canada the bronze medal. He had his next international appearance was at the U20 World Cup in 2008 where the Swedish team unbeaten moved into the finals and defeated after renewal of the Canadian selection. In the same year he took up also at the championships the U18 juniors. In four games Hedman was able to collect a total of four points scorer, his team finished at the end of the fourth and was able to win this time no medal. 2009 Hedman played back at the U20 World Cup, where he met with his national team until the finals defeated the Canadians just like last year.
Hedman played for the Swedish junior national total of 22 games, scored two goals and prepared eight goals before. With three world championships, he was elected to the All-Star Team of the tournament.

Family
His two older brothers Oscar and Johan Hedman are also professional hockey players and also play on the defender position. Johan Hedman, the oldest brother, currently playing in the French second division. Oscar Hedman began his career with MoDo Hockey, where he won the Swedish championship and playing a year along with his younger brother. He is currently playing in the Elitserien for the Frölunda HC and was already selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 by the Washington Capitals.
