Victor II, Duke of Ratibor

Victor Amadeus II, Duke of Ratibor, Prince of Corvey, Prince of Hohenlohe (* September 6, 1847 in Rudy, † August 9, 1923 in Corvey ) was a German nobleman and a Prussian politician.

Life

Victor Amadeus was descended from the house of Hohenlohe. His father was Victor I. Duke of Ratibor, Prince of Corvey. His mother was Amalie von Furstenberg.

Ratibor studied law in Bonn and Göttingen and was Corp. loop carrier Borussia Bonn ( 1867) and Saxonia Göttingen ( 1890). In Saxonia Viktor as his four brothers Max, Karl Egon, Franz ( Colonel à la suite) and Egon ( Chamberlain ) was recorded at the same time.

After the Doctorate in Law. He joined the Potsdam Life Guards Hussar Regiment, with which he fought 1870/71 in German - Prussian War. Between 1873 and 1876 he worked at the German embassy in Vienna.

In 1893 he took over the reigns Kieferstadtel and Zembowitz in Upper Silesia.

From 1897 to 1921 he was chairman of the Silesian or Upper Silesian Province parliament. As a member of the Free Conservative Party, he ran in 1885 and 1888 for the Prussian House of Representatives. Since 1893 he was a member of the Prussian House of Lords. From 1896 to 1904 he was chairman of the New Group.

Family

Since 1877, he was married to Marie née Countess of Breunner - Enckevoirth. With her he had two children:

  • Victor III. Prince of Corvey, Prinz zu Hohenlohe ( born February 2, 1879 † November 11, 1945 )
  • Agatha Princess of Hohenlohe (* July 24, 1888, † December 12, 1960 )

He also had a son from another relationship:

  • Johann Prinz zu Hohenlohe (* March 8, 1882; † January 5, 1948 )
