Victor J. Stenger

Victor John Stenger ( born January 29, 1935 in Bayonne, New Jersey) is an American electrical engineer, physicist, astronomy professor and atheist activist. He achieved fame for his criticism of so-called pseudo-sciences and especially the religiously motivated Intelligent Design.

Life

Stenger grew up in New Jersey. He opposes the idea that mystical supernatural phenomena for free will or consciousness are necessary. Rather, scientific explanations could be found. His book " God: The Failed Hypothesis " was a bestseller in the United States.

Stenger is a member of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI formerly CSICOP ), an organization of the skeptics movement.
