Victor Johnson (cyclist)

Victor Louis Johnson ( born May 10, 1883 in Aston Manor, Warwickshire, † 23 July 1951 in Sutton Coldfield ) was a British racing cyclist who successfully participated at the Olympic Summer Games 1908 in various disciplines of track cycling and the Amateur World Championship 1908 in Leipzig on the Sprint Put won.

The son of the bicycle mechanic John T. Johnson worked as a carpenter and won at the Olympic Games in London 1908 gold medal in the competition over 660 yards (ie a round = 603.491 m) in 51.2 s at the White City Stadium.

He was also a finalist in the 1000- meter race, but retired there as well as his compatriot Clarence Kingsbury prematurely with a puncture from. The winner, Frenchman Maurice Schilles and the runner-up, Benjamin Jones, the race but no medal brought one, since it was not considered because of 105 seconds exceeded the time limit.

Already in pre-Olympic year, Johnson had a good shape proved when he won 72 races for themselves and 24 belonged in another 18 races to runners.

The census of 1901 documented that Johnson was living in the 22 Station Road, Erdington, Warwickshire and his aforementioned occupational exercised. Over the course of his sporting career and his life after his sporting successes is not known.
