Victor Razafimahatratra

Victor Cardinal Razafimahatratra SJ ( born September 8, 1921 in Ambanitsilena - Ranomasina, Madagascar; † 6 October 1993 in Antananarivo ) was Archbishop of Antananarivo.

Life

Victor Razafimahatratra studied after his school days at the Seminary of Fianarantsoa trays Catholic theology and philosophy. In 1945 he entered the Jesuit order and continued his studies in Brussels, Belgium. In 1956 he received the sacrament of Holy Orders and became after further studies in 1960 rector of the minor seminary of Fianarantsoa. In 1963, he made ​​his solemn profession in the Society of Jesus and was appointed Superior of the Jesuit establishment in Amboistra. In the years 1969-1971 he was the rain, the Seminary of Fianarantsoa.

1971 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Bishop of Farafangana, 1976 for the Archbishop of Antananarivo. On 24 May the same year he took him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme to the College of Cardinals. Victor Razafimahatratra died on 6 October 1993 in Atananarivo.
