Victor Yoran
Victor Yoran ( born June 25, 1937 in Moscow ) is a Russian cellist and composer.
He studied with Mstislav Rostropovich and decided his studies in 1962 as winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
He was followed by extensive touring through the Soviet Union, Romania and Bulgaria, as well as an award at the Prague Spring. In 1969 he verlileß illegal, the Soviet Union and first went to Israel. There he taught at the Rubin Academy of Music and conducted a chamber orchestra. He repeatedly emerged as a soloist in concerts with the Israel Philharmonic, among others, the cello concertos by Schumann, Lalo and Khatachaturian.
From Israel from Yoran undertook several concert tours to England, during which he distinguished himself in concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with the cello concerto by Dvorák. Yehudi Menuhin, who heard Yoran at the time, described him as one of the most impressive cellist that he had ever heard.
More tours, mainly with works for cello solo, Yoran led to the United States (Philadelphia, Washington DC and New York) and to Norway.
1976 Yoran was by the Radio Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt first solo cellist obligation with which he emerged in a number of concerts: Under the direction of conductor Eliahu Inbal, Vaclav Neumann and Vladimir Ashkenazy, he played the cello concertos by Honegger, Prokofiev and Brahms Double Concerto, as well as " Shelomo " by Bloch and " Don Quixote " by Richard Strauss.
His extensive chamber music repertoire, he presented in duets, with the pianist Irina Edelstein and in numerous radio recordings. In 1992 he presented a CD recording of the six solo suites by Bach.
