Victoria Matthews

Victoria Matthews (born 1954 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian Anglican bishop.

Life

After her schooling Matthews studied Anglican theology at the University of Toronto, where she reached the 1976 bachelor's degree from Trinity College. In 1979, she earned a master's degree from Yale Divinity School. 1980 Matthews was ordained a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada. From 1997 to 2007 Matthews was Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton in Canada. Her successor was the Bishop Jane Alexander. In February 2008, Matthews was elected Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch in New Zealand, part of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia. It was used on August 30, 2008 at the Cathedral of Christ Church in their office.
