Video blog

A video blog, also known as VLog or V -Log is a portmanteau of " Video" and " blog " or " weblog". A vlog is - like a blog - a site that periodically new entries ( mostly or exclusively ) as a video. The form of activity is vlogging.

History

The word " vlog " became known in the German-speaking world in the wake of the tsunami in the Indian Ocean in December 2004. Television stations showed video images of the disaster that they had not purchased from their local correspondents, but from the Internet.

Since there are graphical browsers, including audiovisual sequences were linked over the internet. Not only the slow data transfer prevented a more rapid dissemination of this technical applicability of HTML. While on an image, a link may be established, but already the content analysis is still unresolved ( conversion from image to text as a basis for further linking option ). A vlog is offset by a blog but before the extra effort that not only films must be produced, but this - to make it accessible to hyperlinks and in particular for the RSS technology - in addition also have to be text-based documents.

Steve Mann described his initial results in this environment than Glogs ( cyborg logs ). Even the word " Vog " is used as a self- description. Due to the availability of faster data transfers but also more and more blogs will record video sequences and blur the lines between blog and vlog.

In analogy to a blog are the posts in a Vlog mainly his own works of Vloggers, it is a Vlog different from a collection of web videos.

Geovlog

In a Geovlog a video are additionally added geographic data such as longitude and latitude. Lack support of meta-information in video files, this is done through special programming on the web page on which the video is published. In addition, spatial information in RSS feeds can be added to any video publication.
