Videopoker

Video Poker is a game that is played on slot machines and is offered in many casinos and gambling halls. It is based on the variant Five Card Draw.

History

The earliest models have already been introduced to coincide with the first PCs in the mid- 70s of last century. Video poker became popular during the 1980s, because the inhibitions to play poker at an ATM was lower than playing at a table.

The game

The object of Video Poker is to achieve the highest five-card poker hand. The player throws through a slot any sum of money into the machine; for newer devices, it is possible to introduce a piece of paper with a bar code. After the transaction process has been completed, the player is dealt five cards by a random generator. He can now determine which and how many of these cards he wishes to replace. After the exchange process has been completed, the machine analyzes the hand. Depending on the combination, the player receives money paid.

Combinations

The big difference between the payment of a royal flush between four and five chips is to give players an incentive to play with bigger stakes.

Variants

Depending on the machine, there are different variants that are played in part with or without jokers ( wild card ). By far the best-known version is Jacks or Better. However, variants such as All American, Tens or Better and Deuces Wild are commonly found.

State Control

The machines are controlled in the U.S. by the State, whether the cards are actually dealt purely coincidental.

Usually the machines simulate the ten cards that can be obtained in the course of a hand, the player, at the very beginning. After it was but a few players have been able to see through a trick, the sequence of the last five cards before they were ever to see in new equipment, a generator has since been installed, calculates the sequence of the second five cards only when they also needed be.
