Vidrovac

Vidrovac (Cyrillic Видровац ) is a village in the Opština Negotin in Bor district in the east of Serbia.

History and name

The first time the village is mentioned in 1530 in Turkish records. In Austria -Hungarian maps of the region, the village from 1723 to 1725 is mentioned under the name Vidrovatz, 1736 and 1784 as Vedrovatz. The Serbian Orthodox Church in the village was built in 1906 and dedicated to St. Nicholas.

The first settlement was located in the center of the present village, on the right bank of the river Reka Jasenická.

The 2002 census (self- nomination) showed that 822 people live in the village.
