Viehofen is a tourist town with 587 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the province of Salzburg in Zell am See district in Austria.
Geography
The municipality is located in the Pinzgau in Salzburg in the Glemmtal between Zell am See and Saalbach -Hinterglemm. Due to the numerous unspoilt torrents Viehofen was in recent times, especially in the years 1995, 2002, 2003, 2004, hit by severe landslides in 2005, 2006 and 2007, which performed the place temporarily from the outside world. The highest mountain in Viehofen is the Upper Gernkogel with a height of 2175 m.
