Vien de Nus

Vien de Nus is an indigenous red grape variety in the Aosta Valley, Italy. It thrives in an area between the municipalities Donnaz and Avise and derives its name from the village of Nus, which is located a few kilometers east of the city of Aosta.

Unmixed expanded Vien de Nus gives the vine a dark red wine with violet reflections; aged a garnet red clay developed. In blends with varieties such as Petit Rouge is found Vien de Nus also in the wines Arnad - Montjovet, Donnaz, Enfer d' Arvier and Torrette.

A study published in 2002, study it can be concluded close that the varieties Mayolet, Petit Rouge and Vien de Nus are closely related and probably descended from the same ancestors.
