Mosque

The mosque was built from 1975 to 1979 by architect Richard liar on behalf of the Saudi Arabian King Faisal ibn Abd al - Aziz. The minaret is 32 meters high, the diameter of the dome is 20 meters. Attached to the center are facilities for the care of the Islamic culture.

The Islamic center was inaugurated by the then Austrian President Rudolf Kirchschläger on 20 November 1979.

During the symposium " The discomfort with religion " of the Institute of Religiosity in Psychiatry & Psychotherapy held on June 18, 2011, Gregor Henckel Donnersmarck first time a high Catholic dignitaries to speak at the Vienna mosque.
