Viennese state election, 2005

The parliamentary and municipal elections in Vienna in 2005 was conducted on 23 October 2005 and held jointly with the district council elections in 2005. It was the first election in Vienna, with the participation of 16 - and 17 -year-old could participate ( the voting age for the Vienna City Council election had been reduced from 18 to 16 ). In the election, the Social Democratic Party of Austria could (SPO ) to expand their majority and again reach the absolute majority of seats. The SPÖ scoring an increase of 2.2%, reaching 49.1% 55 of the 100 seats, while posting a rise of three seats. Election loser, however, was the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ ), which lost 5.3% and with a vote share of 14.6 % suffered its worst result since 1987. The FPÖ lost eight of their previous 21 seats and stood only 13 deputies in the Vienna parliament and council. An increase of 2.4 %, however, reached the Austrian People's Party ( ÖVP), which also won two seats with 18.8%, reaching a total of 18 seats, and the FPÖ overtook again. The Greens Vienna ( GREEN ) were able to record voices and profits increased by 2.2 % to a vote share of 14.6 %. Thus, the Greens were up by three seats to 14 seats. All other lists, however, were thwarted by the entry into the state parliament.
