Vieste

Vieste is a municipality on the Italian Adriatic coast. It is located in the Apulia region and belongs to the province of Foggia. Vieste is to be found on the map at the spur of the Italian boot.

The small town with 13,601 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) was once a fishing village and is now heavily influenced by tourism. Between October and June, the local economy is largely stagnating.

In the region there are many olive plantations and campsites. Geologically, the shore around Vieste particularly interesting. The erosion has greatly transformed the limestone. So are today seen in various places strangely shaped rocks, caves and arches.

The nearest large city is the provincial capital Foggia in about one and a half hours by car ( 99 km) away.
