Vigevano

Vigevano ( German outdated: Vigen ) is a city in the province of Pavia, Italy with 61 242 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

The city lies about 35 km southwest of Milan, near the Ticino River. Worth seeing is the rectangular Piazza Ducale with numerous Renaissance and the Sforzesco castle Castell.

The city, a center of shoe manufacturing, shoe houses a museum.

Vigevano is an already existing at the time of the Roman settlement, which they called Victumulae. Not far from the city, the battle at Ticinus found in the Second Punic War in 218 BC instead, in which the Romans were defeated by the Carthaginians under Hannibal.
