Vignory

Vignory is located in the French region of Champagne- Ardenne in the Haute- Marne. The village with 268 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) is part of the arrondissement Chaumont and is the center of Canton Vignory consisting of 16 municipalities. It is located in a small side valley of the Marne, and is dominated by the ruins of an erected by the Norman knight Raoul Barbeta in the 11th century castle.

Cultural history of significance is the church of St -Etienne, built in 1032-1057 with a Priory. It is an example of Romanesque architecture in the 11th century. A square bell tower, the crowned an octagonal helmet, carries on each side of the two upper floors of two crossed twin arches.
