Vijay Amritraj

Vijay Amritraj ( born December 14, 1953 in Madras (now Chennai) ) is a Tamil Indian tennis player, actor and entrepreneur.

Life

Vijay Anand and his brother were among the first Indians who took part in an international tennis tournament. In 1976, the brothers were semi-finalists in the men's double Wimbledoner. He played 17 years in succession at Wimbledon with, brought India in 1974 and in 1987 Davis Cup final, reached in 1973 and 1981, the Wimbledon quarter- finals in 1973 and 1974, the U.S. Open quarter-finals, was for 14 years the best player in Asia and was five times president of the ATP player Council. Vijay is the only Asian who received the Baron Pierre de Coubertin Award. In addition, he was awarded the Padma Shri Order of the Indian government and the Golden Key of Los Angeles.

After the withdrawal from tennis in the 1980s, the 1.94 m wide and 74 kg light Vijay had a brief acting career, for example, along with Roger Moore in Octopussy and in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
