Vijay Singh

Vijay Singh ( born February 22, 1963 in Lautoka, Fiji ) is a professional golfer of the North American PGA TOUR.

He is married to a Malaysian woman and has a son. His name is Vijay Hindi and means " victory " while Singh "Lion " is.

Career

Singh played for some time on the Asian Tour. Due to dubious allegations regarding a supposed by him subsequently amended scorecard, he was banned for some time. To this day, he says, to have not changed the score card. In 1988 he became a member of the European Tour, where he won 12 titles to date.

In 1993, Singh Member on the PGA TOUR and has been elected in the same year "Rookie of the Year." At first he was despite being fairly successful, he got his big break but it was only in 1998, when he was his first major win at the PGA Championship. 2000, Singh took his second Major, the U.S. Masters. In 2003, he won four tournaments in itself. In that year he led for the first time to the American money list. His best ever season had Vijay Singh in 2004 when he, again including the PGA Championship, was able to finish victorious nine tournaments.

In 2004 he won - the first professional golfer ever - nearly 11 million dollars in prize money. He again took the money list, was "Player of the Year" and dethroned Tiger Woods at the German Bank Players Championship of Europe as the best player in the world. His 2004 season is one of the most successful ever.
