Vika, Sweden

Vika is a place (Swedish tätort ) in the Swedish municipality of Falun in the province of Dalarna County, historical province Dalarna. In 2010 the town had 445 inhabitants in an area of 60 hectares.

The stone church of Vika ( Vika kyrka ) from 1469 is known for its murals. There is an extension on the north side of the church; on the belfry of the church can overlook the surrounding area.

Historically Vika was a parish ( socks ), today it is a parish ( församling ).

The village lies on the northern shore of the lake Vikasjön, which is connected via the lying in Vika Vikasund with the Runn. Around the lake are grouped - from east to west - the smaller places beach, Rankhyttan, Folkarbyn and Rensbyn, which also belong to the parish Vika.

Furthermore, there exist a library ( bibliotek Vika ) and a school ( Vikaskolan ).
