Vikas Swarup
Vikas Swarup (* 1963 in Allahabad ) is an Indian diplomat and writer.
He wrote the bestseller Q and A, what questions and answers ( questions and responses) and the German title rupees! Rupees! bears. This is a novel about a poor Indian waiter who wins a billion rupees in a quiz show, and then on the basis of suspicion lands on fraud in prison. His book Swarup was in his own words inspired by a visit to one of the learning stations of the education project Hole in the Wall. The book was published in 2005, has been translated into almost 30 languages and was made into a film titled Slumdog Millionaire (2008). In 2009 he was awarded a total of eight Oscars.
Swarup is working since 1986 in the Indian Foreign Ministry and was appointed in August 2009 to Consul General in Osaka - Kobe, where he also resides at the time.
