Viktar Zuyev

Viktar Valeryevich Sujeu (White Russian Віктар Валер'евіч Зуеў, Russian Виктор Валерьевич Зуев / Wiktor Valeryevich Zuev, May 22nd, 1983 in Vitebsk ) is a Belarusian amateur boxer. His greatest achievement was winning the silver medal in the heavyweight division at the Summer Olympics in 2004.

Boxing career

The multiple Belarusian champion in 1998 in Jurmala Cadet European Champion and 1999 in Sarajevo European junior champion at middleweight. In the Cadet European Championship 1999 in Baku, he reached the second place.

At the European Championships in 2002 in Perm, he won by a walkover exit in the semifinal against Yevgeny Makarenko, the bronze medal in the heavyweight division.

Also in the 12th World Championship 2003 in Bangkok, he got out in the semi-finals of the heavyweight division and also won the bronze medal. His opponent in the semifinals would have been Odlanier Solís.

In 2004 he was in Pula to final defeat by Alexander Alexeyev, European vice-champion in the heavyweight division.

For his participation in the heavyweight division at the 28th Olympic Summer Games 2004 in Athens, he won after final defeat against Odlanier Solís, the silver medal. At the 29th Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, he was defeated in the first battle the Italian Clemente Russo.

At the 15th World Championships in Milan in 2009, he won the bronze medal in the super heavyweight division. He was inferior only in the semi-final against Roberto Cammarelle.

In 2010 he was in Moscow, European vice- champion in the super heavyweight division. He had failed in the final against Sergei Kuzmin.

In European Championships 2011 Sujeu met in the preliminary round on Roberto Cammarelle, Italy, and had to give him an early defeat (RSC 2 ). Also at the world championships in the same year had Sujeu little success. He failed in the quarterfinals to Erik Pfeifer, Germany (18-15 ).

To qualify, despite this failure for the 2012 Olympic Games took Zuev at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in Trabzon in part, in which he, however, in the second round against Magomed Omarov, Russia ( 16:7 ), was eliminated and thus missed the Olympiaqiualifikation.

In the season 2011/2012 Sujeu Istanbul fought in the World Series of Boxing, where he was able to win all four battles. At the European Championships 2013 in Minsk, he won a bronze medal in the super heavyweight division. After victories against Szabolcs Deel from Hungary and Egor Plewako from Ukraine, he rose without a fight from the semi-finals.
